Samsung unveils new rugged smartphone

Galaxy Xcover 2 is submersible for up to a metre and is fully dust and sand-proof

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Xcover 2 rugged handset, aimed at customers who enjoy outdoor activities.

The handset is dust and sand proof and water resistant up to a metre. It also features an underwater camera and satellite signal detection system which can accurately track the location of the handset in an emergency.

Running Android Jelly Bean, it has a four inch screen, five megapixel camera and 1Ghz dual core processor with 4GB of built-in memory, expandable up to 32GB with a memory card.

It will be available in March in the UK.
