BlackBerry appoints two new board members

The manufacturer has appointed former Verizon and Sony Mobile executives to its board of directors

BlackBerry has appointed two new board directors including a former chief executive officer of Sony Mobile.

Richard “Dick” Lynch, retired executive vice president of US network Verizon Communications and Bert Nordberg, former CEO of Sony Mobile, today join BlackBerry board of directors, bringing the total membership to 12.

Board chair Barbara Stymiest said the appointments will help BlackBerry “leverage” its new operating system.

“We are very pleased to add the talent and industry knowledge of these two respected executives to our Board.

“We are looking forward to their contributions as we continue to drive for long-term shareholder value and seek opportunities to leverage the extraordinary BlackBerry 10 platform launched last week,” Stymiest said.
