Bramwell reckons the survivors will be resellers who achieve a successful convergence between IT and mobile, and that Windows Phone will fight back against Android and Apple iOS in the operating system stakes

2013 will see end-user demand driving the need for distributors and resellers to become one-stop shops as the pressure to be complete providers grows. With decreasing margins, only those resellers who have developed a product portfolio which successfully achieves a convergence between IT and mobile will survive.

Demand for handset software security will continue to grow.

In terms of handset prominence 2013 will see Windows phones making a continued assault on industry behemoths Android and iOS.

The BYOD trend, which has gathered a great deal of momentum in the last 12 months, will continue to grow and develop following on from the opportunities Microsoft’s Windows 8 has presented in this area. By way of facilitating this, the tablet market, already one of the fastest-growing areas in recent times, will show no signs of slowing.
