New additions to be available later this quarter and will join the manufacturer’s other recent product launches, the Xperia Z and Tablet Z
Sony Mobile is adding the Xperia SP and L smartphones to its portfolio, which the manufacturer said offers its unique features at different price points. They will go on sale later this quarter.
The 4G-ready and NFC-enabled Xperia SP (pictured left) will be powered by a 1.7GHz Qualcomm dual-core processor and run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
It will have a 4.6-inch HD ‘Reality Display’ with Mobile Bravia Engine 2 to improve image sharpness and colour quality. There will also be an eight-megapixel camera with ‘Exmor RS for mobile’, an image sensor with HDR (High Dynamic Range) video for smartphones, providing sharp imagery regardless of the conditions.
The Xperia L (pictured right) is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm dual-core processor and will run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It will feature a 4.3-inch touchscreen and also has an eight megapixel camera with Exmor RS for mobile, as well as being NFC-enabled.
Both will come with ‘Battery STAMINA Mode’, which Sony said quadruples standby time by shutting down battery-draining apps whenever the screen is off and restarting when it is back on.
Both will come with 8GB of internal memory, that can be expanded by a further 32GB with a microSD card. They will also both be available in black, white and red.
The Xperia SP and L join Sony’s other models announced so far this year. The Xperia Z was unveiled at CES in January, with the Xperia Tablet Z launched last month at Mobile World Congress.
Sony Mobile director of Xperia marketing Calum MacDougall said: “Both of our new models benefit from Sony’s proven innovation and engineering expertise – whether you want to enjoy premium HD quality entertainment over 4G LTE on our mid-range Xperia SP or capture every moment in perfect detail with our more affordable Xperia L.”
