Vodafone appoints Val Gooding as non-exec director

Gooding has filled the role at several companies including Cable & Wireless, and is currently non-executive chairman of technology products distributor Premier Farnell

Vodafone has appointed former Cable & Wireless non-executive director Val Gooding to the same position at the operator.

Gooding, who will join Vodafone on February 1, is currently non-executive chairman of technology products distributor Premier Farnell. She is also lead non-executive director at the Home Office, a non-executive director of the Lawn Tennis Association and a Trustee of Historic Royal Palaces.

Previous roles include CEO of private healthcare provider BUPA, and several senior roles at British Airways including director of Asia Pacific.

She has been a non-executive director of Standard Chartered Bank, the BBC, J. Sainsbury, and Cable and Wireless Communications, and was awarded a CBE for services to business in the 2002 New Year’s Honours list.

Cable & Wireless was acquired by Vodafone in July 2012.
