Lenovo appoints Colin Giles to drive global sales

Manufacturer brings in Huawei and Nokia veteran to drive sales and business delivery outside of its home country of China  

Lenovo has appointed former Huawei and Nokia executive Colin Giles as vice president of its Mobile Business Group.

Giles, who is tasked with driving global smartphone sales and business delivery outside of China, reports to president of the Group, Lin Jun.

He joins from Huawei, where he was executive vice president of marketing, retail and open channel development for just under a year.

Previously, he spent 20 years at Nokia and held several senior executive roles, with his last role at the manufacturer between January 2010 and September 2012 being executive vice president and global head of sales.

Lenovo bought Motorola from Google for £1.8 million in January. In Q4 2013, it became the fourth largest smartphone manufacturer with 13.9 million shipments and 4.9 per cent market share.
