Gold partner goes into liquidation after accumulating over £520,000 in debts

Yorkshire-based Vodafone gold partner Contact Advance has gone into liquidation after nine years in business.

Documents filed with Companies House showed Contact Advance owed more than £520,000, which includes more than £164,000 owed to Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and £139,000 to Yorkshire Bank.

As well as being a Vodafone partner, Contact Advance had accounts with O2 and airtime distributor Midland. Neither firm is thought to have lost out significantly as a result of the firm’s liquidation.

Contact Advance is understood to have been struggling for the last two years. The firm made a loss of more than £44,000 in 2009, and £142,000 in 2010.

Vodafone partner services UK head Tony Bailey said: “We are no longer working with Contact Advance, but we took the necessary steps to secure as many of its customers with other key partners to minimise disruption to their service.

“We are committed to working closely with all of our indirect partners.”
