Bamford appointed as chairman of Six Degrees Group

Former Vodafone UK chief executive joins unified comms provider in latest recruit to privately owned company

Managed data service provider Six Degrees Group has appointed former Vodafone UK chief executive Peter Bamford as its non-executive chairman.

Bamford served as a Vodafone board director between 1998 and 2006, during which time he served as managing director of Vodafone Distribution, chief executive of Vodafone UK, regional chief executive of Norther Europe, Middle East and Africa, and group chief marketing officer.

Prior to Vodafone, he was managing director of WH Smith Retail . Currently he is chairman of branded clothing company SuperGroup and non-executive director of Rentokil Initial.

Bamford said: “As CEO, Alastair has a very clear and compelling vision of what he is trying to achieve and his management team has a great track record of delivery. The company also has an excellent long-term relationship with Penta Capital.

“The managed data services market is an exciting and fast growing sector and Six Degrees Group is well positioned to capitalise on that growth opportunity with its integrated product portfolio.  I feel that I can add value from my experiences of growing and developing companies and I’m very much looking forward to being part of the Six Degrees Group team.”
