Service provider wins significant deal for unified communications provision with PZ Cussons

Azzurri Communications has won a three-year contract worth £1.6 million to deliver, manage and support a unified communications solution for soap and toiletries brand PZ Cussons’s new UK head office and manufacturing plant.

PZ Cussons moved to a new 40,000 square-foot head office in Manchester in April. The firm has had its communications estate, including telephony, video conferencing and infrastructure, unified over IP.

Azzurri Communications will provide a managed service that brings together 10 suppliers on a single contract and service level agreement. It will manage PZ Cussons’ Local Area Network (LAN) and wireless network via its Network Operating Centre, and manage PZ Cussons’ VoIP telephony calls and line provision, and print and document solutions.

The contract also includes supply and management of 350 smartphones. PZ Cussons has selected devices it thinks suits staff, including Apple iPads and iPhones, and Windows Mobile and Nokia devices.

Azzurri Communications chief executive Mark Quartermaine (pictured) said: “Our customers recognise that effectively integrating their corporate networks with business and communications applications will drive significant business benefit. But the deluge of vendor hype on ‘unified communications’ can make decision making difficult for them.

“Our key strength is helping large enterprises understand which aspects of telecommunications are important to their business, and then effectively managing numerous suppliers to integrate and deliver transformational projects.”

PZ Cussons group head of IT Ged Bithell said: “Azzurri was very competitive and came through well on each element of the tender. This allowed us to go single source with our communications supplier which helps hugely with service management, and provides economies of scale.”
