Everything Everywhere VP of business Martin Stiven thinks security, flexible working and convergence will be key, and ensuring businesses have a secure IT network and up-to-date mobile security will be vital
“The business environment this year is likely to be challenging. Despite optimism around growth, businesses are taking the safe option by choosing to reinvest their profits directly back into the company, rather than hiring new staff.
“Eighty-nine per cent of SME customers plan to spend more on communication technology in 2012 than they did in 2011, up from 52 per in 2011.
“Key focuses for 2012 will be security, flexible working and convergence.
“Smartphone ownership has nearly doubled in the UK in the past 18 months. This, coupled with a 250 per cent increase in network data traffic in urban areas over the past two years, shows that businesses are accessing more email, applications, Cloud services and the internet from smartphones.
“As such, ensuring that every business has both a secure IT network as well as up-to-date mobile security will be vital.
“Additionally, small and large enterprises alike face the issue of managing multiple devices across fixed and mobile solutions. As businesses plan to spend more on communication technology they can simplify their communications needs through converged solutions.”
